Relationships between Variables Related with Stress and Psychological Variables of Female University Students in Seoul

Abstract
This study examines the relationship between stressor and psychological variables of 110 female university students in Seoul. The questionnaires are consisted of stress evaluation parts and psychological factors: as the stress evaluation parts, health awareness through self-discovery is used, which is modified from Social Readjustment Rating Scale by Holmes & Rahe; as the psychological factors 6 scales from MMPI scales are selected: Conscious Anxiety Scale, Conscious Regression Scale, Ego-Strength Scale, Prejudice Scale, Control Scale, Hypochodriasis Scale. The major findings are as follows: 1. The percentage of the students who experienced life stressor events was 0.0% to 65.7%. 2. More than half of the student were under high stress of classwork such as lower GPA than expected and heavy assignments. 3. The relationship between stressor and Scales of Conscious Anxiety, Prejudice, Control and Hypochodriasis showed positive correlation, while showing negative correlation between stressor and Ego-Strength. The results support the idea that the positive relationship between stressor and psychological factors. Health educational program will be needed to change psychological factors in the desirable direction to reduce stressor.
